Tulia livestock sales report
The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,466 head Sept. 17, compared to 2,790 head last week and 1,972 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $3 lower except those at 500 to 600 pounds steers were steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade was active and demand good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500- to 700-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 80% and slaughter cows and bulls 20% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 67% of the run, heifers 33%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 78%. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 310 lbs., 151.00; pen 428 lbs., 128.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 114.50 to 122; 600 to 700 lbs., 114.00 to 118.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 113.25 to 119.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 112.25 to 115.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 445 lbs., 130.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 110.00 to 113.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.00 to 114.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 113.50 to 117.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 111.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.50 to 114.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 105.50 to 110.00; part load 821 lbs., 97.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 109.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.75 to 112.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 47.00 to 51.25. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 48.00 to 50.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 45.00 to 52.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 41.75 to 42.50. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1685 to 1875 lbs., 54.50 to 63.50. Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged to aged, 900 to 1200 lbs., cows 3 to 7 months bred, 510.00 to 760.00 per head. Date: 9/20/07
