Springfield livestock sales

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,831 head Sept. 19, compared to 2,246 head last week and 2,396 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 600 pounds were $1 to $4 lower, exception front to end heifer calves were steady, steers over 600 pounds and Holsteins, all weights, were steady to $2 lower, heifers over 600 pounds were steady. Demand was moderate, supply moderate to heavy. A special wean-vac sale was held in conjunction with the regular sale. The bulk of the cattle were in medium to fleshy condition, but quality improved over recent sales. The feeder supply included 32% steers, 10% Holsteins, 39% heifers, 19% bulls, with 41% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 127.00 to 138.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 116.50 to 125.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 113.50 to 124.50, calves 112.00 to 118.00; 700 to 740 lbs., 115.50 to 116.50; lot 1009 lbs., 95.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 125.00 to 139.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 116.00 to 128.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 120.00, fleshy 111.00 to 112.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 108.50 to 123.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 109.00 to 112.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 103.50 to 111.00.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 330 to 355 lbs., 111.00 to 114.00, 360 to 400 lbs., thin 87.00 to 96.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 83.00 to 104.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 87.00 to 92.50; package 717 lbs., 85.50; 800 to 865 lbs., 84.00 to 86.50; package 953 lbs., 80.00; package 1032 lbs., 77.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 375 lbs., 126.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 124.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 120.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.50 to 115.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 107.00 to 108.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 290 to 300 lbs., 118.00 to 121.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 122.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 104.00 to 115.00, fleshy 100.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 112.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 110.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 100.00 to 107.00; package 824 lbs., 103.50; 930 to 955 lbs., 96.50 to 102.00; package 1040 lbs., 74.00.
