Salina cattle auction reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,921 head, Sept. 13, compared to 3,521 head, last week and 2,533 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, feeder steers at 400 to 600 pounds, were not tested, while those at 600 to 800 pounds were $2 to $3 lower, and 800 to 1000 pounds were steady to $1 lower. Feeder heifers at 400 to 600 pounds were $2 to $3 lower, and 600 to 800 pounds were $3 to $5 lower. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand good. Receipts included 86% 600 pounds and over, 12% 600 pounds and under, 1% bred cows, less than 1% cow/calf pairs, less than 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 68% steers and 32% heifers.
