Huron cattle sales report
The Bales Continental Commission Co., Huron, S.D., reported receipts of 1,282 head Sept. 13, compared to 1,308 head last year, according to the USDA to South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. There has been no sale for a month, so trend comparisons were not applicable. Demand was good. There were many load lots of yearling cattle. Steers comprised 70% of the run, heifers 30%, with 99% of the run over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 789 to 793 lbs., 118.00 to 118.50 (118.28); 862 to 897 lbs., 115.60 to 117.85 (116.74); 920 to 936 lbs., 113.75 to 114.75 (114.43); 968 to 975 lbs., 105.00 to 109.00 (107.06). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 698 lbs., 117.00; 701 to 742 lbs., 106.00 to 114.50 (111.29); 9 head, 780 lbs., 109.00; 807 to 844 lbs., 104.25 to 108.50 (106.80); 872 to 890 lbs., 103.50 to 111.00 (109.08). Large frame 1, 18 head, 900 to 913 lbs., 107.25 to 108.50 (107.46); 988 to 992 lbs., 99.50 to 103.25 (103.02). Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 417 lbs., 123.00; 7 head, 749 lbs., 110.00; 7 head, 761 to 768 lbs., 108.25 to 110.00 (109.25); 856 to 867 lbs., 105.50 to 111.00 (107.28); 900 to 946 lbs., 104.50 to 109.00 (107.16); 915 to 933 lbs., 92.75 to 94.75 (94.09) fleshy; 956 to 995 lbs., 105.50 to 107.50 (106.36); 11 head, 1065 lbs., 94.50; 10 head, 1108 lbs., 95.00.
