Georgia cattle auction summary
The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Sept. 14, showed receipts of 15,526 head, compared to 10,598 head last week and 14,204 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 lower, feeder steers and steer calves were $1 to $3 lower, heifers were steady to $2 lower, heifer calves were $1 to $3 lower, replacement cows were $2 to $5 lower. The offering consisted of 8% steers over 600 pounds, 35% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 26% heifers under 600 pounds, 9% feeder cows, 14% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
