Colorado feeder cattle report
The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., Sept. 14, reported receipts of 4,675 head Sept. 14, compared to 3,010 head last week and 4,120 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Co. Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves sold mostly steady in a light test. Yearling feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 higher. Demand was moderate to good, best demand continued for load lots of yearlings. Auctions were just beginning to see seasonal receipts as cattle were taken off of grass. Following numerous years of drought, this has been one of the better grazing years in recent seasons. The supply was made up of 52% feeder steers, the balance was feeder heifers, with about 80% of the total supply over 600 pounds.
