Pratt livestock sales report
Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 1,839 head Sept. 6, compared to 2,590 head last week and 1,584 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared to last week, feeder steers and feeder heifers at 300 to 700 pounds were not enough for a market test but a higher undertone was noted. Feeder steers at 700 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $2 higher. Feeder heifers at 700 to 950 pounds were steady to $2 higher. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were $2 lower. Receipts included 80% 600 pounds and over, 16% 600 pounds and under, 4% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 55% steers and 45% heifers.
