Huron cattle sales report
The Bales Continental Commission Co., Huron, S.D., reported receipts of 798 head Sept. 9, compared to 647 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Last sale was weeks ago, so trend comparisons are not applicable. Demand was good. Steers were comprised of 34% of the run, heifers 66%, with 89% of the run was over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 14 head, 449 lbs., 132.00; 9 head, 594 lbs., 129.50; 608 to 642 lbs., 128.50 to 130.00 (129.83); 5 head, 694 lbs., 125.00; 49 head, 711 lbs., 122.00; 34 head, 949 lbs., 108.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 296 lbs., 435.00 per head; 6 head, 523 lbs., 124.00; 551 to 554 lbs., 122.00 to 126.00 (124.17); 8 head, 604 lbs., 124.00; 5 head, 723 lbs., 119.00. Large frame 1, 15 head, 892 lbs., 107.75. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 9 head, 621 lbs., 118.00; 664 to 693 lbs., 115.50 to 118.00 (117.79); 14 head, 728 lbs., 115.50; 7 head, 751 lbs., 113.00; 803 to 819 lbs., 111.25 to 112.85 (112.00); 889 to 899 lbs., 104.25 to 105.75 (105.56); 55 head, 908 lbs., 103.75; 48 head, 1004 lbs., 98.75.
