Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Sept. 7, reported receipts of 2,187 head sheep and goats, compared to 2,524 head last week and 3,201 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Light weight slaughter lambs were $10 to $15 higher, heavy weights were $3 to $5 higher. Stock and feeder goats were steady to firm on a light test. Slaughter goats were $15 to $20 higher. Demand was very good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 250 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 110 lbs., 55.00 to 87.00; 60 to 70 lbs., ewe lambs 116.00 to 125.00. Dorper bucks, 120.00 to 400.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 60 to 85 lbs., 45.00 to 63.00. Barbados bucks, 150.00 to 280.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 90 to 110 lbs., 90.00 to 98.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 50 to 80 lbs., 114.00 to 130.00. Barbados, 40 to 70 lbs., 100.00 to 116.00; ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 42.00 to 46.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 115.00 to 129.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 116.00 to 122.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 109.00 to 115.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 40.00 to 54.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 30.00 to 40.00. Angoras, few 75 lbs., 50.00. Billies, 100 to 220 lbs., 78.00 to 84.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 80 to 120 lbs., 103.00 to 107.50.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 65 lb. fancy nannies 125.00 to 250.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 80.00 to 97.00. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 65.00 to 80.00. Billies, Selection 1, 90 to 150 lbs., 116.00 to 165.00.

Stock and feeder goats: Selection 1, 30 to 40 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00, few to 118.00. Selection 2, 30 to 40 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00.
