Faith livestock sales report

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 2,647 head Sept. 10, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to two weeks ago, steer trends were not applicable due to no comparable sales. Feeder heifers sold $2 to $5 higher on 800 to 950 pounds with more liberal numbers offered this week. Feeder cows were lightly tested, however a lower undertone was noted. Slaughter cows not well tested. Slaughter bulls sold $1 to $2 lower. Demand was good on all classes of feeder cattle and calves. Offerings consisted of mostly pot loads of spayed and open feeder heifers plus a few loads and smaller packages of feeder steers and steer calves. Feeder receipts included 12% steers and 88% heifers, with 94% over 600 pounds. Receipts were about 91% feeder cattle, 2% slaughter cows and bulls with balance cows returning to the country and other miscellaneous cattle.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 15 head, 315 lbs., 159.00; 102 head, 402 lbs., 155.00; 30 head, 483 lbs., 140.00; 9 head, 708 to 716 lbs., 116.00 to 122.50 (120.35); 6 head, 847 lbs., 116.50; 18 head, 860 to 880 lbs., 114.00 to 115.00 (114.67); 902 to 948 lbs., 112.50 to 115.75 (114.70); 54 head, 1007 lbs., 110.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 662 to 696 lbs., 117.50 to 118.00 (117.75); 721 to 737 lbs., 115.00 to 118.00 (117.45); 754 to 796 lbs., 115.00 to 116.25 (115.74); 806 to 841 lbs., 112.50 to 116.00 (114.37); 858 to 892 lbs., 111.50 to 113.25 (112.09); 901 to 948 lbs., 106.00 to 112.75 (110.25); 955 to 986 lbs., 105.75 to 108.75 (106.44). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 16 head, 887 lbs., 106.25. Large frame 1, 1011 to 1033 lbs., 105.75 to 106.25 (105.96); 8 head, 1053 lbs., 101.50.

Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 4 years old. Feeder cows, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 1150 to 1375 lbs., 54.50 to 56.00; middle aged to aged, 1200 to 1300 lbs., 49.00 to 51.25. Large frame 1, 1400 to 1650 lbs., 50.00 to 53.75, few young 54.00 to 56.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1110 to 2025 lbs., 49.00 to 51.00; low dressing, 47.00 to 50.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1165 lbs., 41.50 to 43.25.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1600 to 2200 lbs., 61.00 to 64.75; high dressing, 67.00; low dressing, 58.00 to 60.25.
