Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending Aug. 25, totaled 7,525 head, compared to 1,700 head last week and 9,775 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to two weeks ago, feeder cattle over 750 pounds sold steady to $2 lower, under 750 pounds not well tested at Wyoming auctions. Demand was good. Direct trading was slow. Few comparable sales were steady. Demand was moderate to good. Buyer inquiry moderate to good. Offerings were moderate. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 53% of the supply, heifers 47%, with 87% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 5675 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 400 lbs., 142.00; 735 lbs., 124.00; 860 lbs., 115.50; 900 to 930 lbs., 108.75 to 111.00; 970 lbs., 107.50 to 109.00; 1015 lbs., 105.50.
