West Plains regional salesThe Ozarks Regional Stockyard, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 4,300 head Sept. 4, compared to 4,150 head last week and 2,925 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, feeder steers sold steady, heifers were steady to $2 lower. Once again this weeks' supply was moderate to heavy as producers continued to fight high temperatures and low rain fall leaving very little pasture in the area. Demand was moderate, supported by last week's gains in the feedlot trade and much higher cattle futures. The feeder offerings were made up of 45% steers, 45% heifers, 8% feeder bulls, and 2% Holstein steers, with nearly 37% of the total feeder offering over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 125.00 to 143.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 120.00 to 128.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 115.00 to 123.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 117.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 109.50 to 112.00.
