Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,410 head Aug. 27, compared to 1,729 head last week and 1,503 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade was active and demand was good to very good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 80% and slaughter cows and bulls 20% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 32% of the run, heifers 68%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 70%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 150.00 to 161.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 123.00 to 130.00, pen 443 lbs., 139.00, pen 455 lbs., 141.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 117.50 to 127.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 112.00 to 122.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 110.50 to 117.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 110.00 to 115.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 140.00 to 146.00; package 483 lbs., 111.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 115.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 107.50 to 111.00, 663 lbs., fleshy 102.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 114.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, pen 271 lbs., 123.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 124.00 to 128.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 120.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.50 to 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.50 to 113.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 109.00 to 111.25; pen 806 lbs., 106.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 251 lbs., 139.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 116.00; pen 578 lbs., 105.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 107.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 105.00 to 109.00; load 810 lbs., 107.50. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, part load 629 lbs., 103.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 49.25 to 53.75. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 53.00 to 57.25; 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 49.75 to 56.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 45.00 to 50.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 42.00 to 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1115 to 1780 lbs., 57.50 to 64.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged to aged, 900 to 1200 lbs., cows 3 to 7 months bred, 560.00 to 885.00 per head.
