Springfield livestock salesThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 1,981 head Sept. 5, compared to 1,762 head last week and 1,790 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers under 700 pounds were steady to $2 higher, over 700 pounds were steady on a light test. Holsteins were steady, except 600 weights were $4 to $5 lower. Demand and supply were moderate. Several consignments of wean vaccinated calves in the offering. The feeder supply included 27% steers, 15% Holsteins, 42% heifers, 17% bulls, with 35% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 388 lbs., 135.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 127.00 to 143.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 122.00 to 128.00; 635 to 700 lbs., 124.00 to 125.50; package 766 lbs., 116.50.
