Sioux Falls sheep salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D, reported receipts of 599 head Sept. 4, compared to 1,494 head last week and 635 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold mostly steady to $1 lower. Slaughter ewes and feeder lambs too few to test. Receipts included about 67% slaughter lambs, 11% slaughter ewes, 9% feeder lambs and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 58 head, 140 lbs., 104.00 to 104.25 (104.06). Shorn Choice 2 to 3, 29 head, 121 lbs., 101.50. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 24 head, 128 lbs., 102.50; 132 to 145 lbs., 103.50 to 104.00 (103.80); 153 to 158 lbs., 104.00. Slaughter ewes: Good and Choice 2 to 4, Special Contract Order, 6 head, 158 lbs., 35.00; 16 head, 173 to 186 lbs., 36.50 to 40.00 (37.92). Good 2 to 3, 4 head, 154 lbs., 27.00; 5 head, 201 lbs., 25.50. Cull 1, 18 head, 120 to 146 lbs., 17.00 to 19.50 (18.23). Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 15 head, 78 lbs., 102.00 to 107.00 (104.00); 14 head, 113 lbs., 92.50. Medium and large frame 2, 10 head, 51 lbs., 110.00. Slaughter kids: Selection 2, 6 head, 36 lbs., 80.00; 10 head, 45 lbs., 50.00; 21 head, 61 lbs., 80.00. Slaughter nannies/does: Selection 1, 9 head, 100 lbs., 55.00. Date: 9/6/07
