Salina cattle sales report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,142 head Aug. 30, compared to 3,632 head last week and 2,577 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers at 400 to 650 pounds were not enough at medium and large frame 1 for a market test. Steers weighing 650 to 850 pounds were steady and 850 to 950 pounds were $2 to $3 higher. Feeder heifers weighing 650 to 750 pounds were $1 to $3 higher and 750 to 850 pounds were steady to firm. Slaughter cows were not tested. Trade was active. Demand was good. Receipts included 91% 600 pounds and over, 8% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply was 50% steers and 50% heifers.
