New Farm Bureau membership benefit brings wider, faster InterneIowa Iowans who live in areas of the state once considered 'too remote' for high-speed Internet connection, now have a new option beyond their painstakingly slow dial-up service; all they need is a southern exposure for a clear satellite reception and a Farm Bureau membership. Farm Bureau members can now 'log on' to their new benefit with Agristar Global Networks' broadband satellite service and get a $50 discount on initial equipment charges (now just $249 installed for members) plus up to two months of free service with a 15-month contract. Agristar is the only broadband service dedicated to agriculture and features a premium package of agribusiness information services to subscribers. This includes global market information, news, futures and cash quotes, technical color charts, text and audio reports updated throughout the day. According to an Iowa Utilities Board 2006 survey, nearly 93-percent of the state has access to one or more types of high-speed Internet technology, but only 52-percent of rural communities had access to high-speed wireless/satellite technologies, so farmers really appreciate the service. "As a corn, soybeans, hay and cattle rancher, it's crucial for me to have the latest commodity information, without the wait because commodity market trading requires that," says Iowa farmer, Dan Johnson of rural Wapello County. "It means even though I live in a part of the state where cell phone service can be spotty, I can always be on top of the markets, plus get the latest video news feeds and animated color weather maps from around the world. It's professionally installed and it's definitely a great value for me," says Johnson. To receive the exclusive Farm Bureau Agristar Global Networks member rate, visit the Member Benefits section of the Iowa Farm Bureau website at www.iowafarmbureau.com or call Agristar toll-free at 888-777-0440. You will need your IFBF membership number to take advantage of this exclusive offer. Date: 8/29/07
