Goldthwaite sheep sales
The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Aug. 31, reported receipts of 2,524 head of sheep and goats, compared to 2,149 head last week and 2,444 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Light weight slaughter lambs were $5 to $10 higher, heavy weight firm on a light test. Stock and feeder goats were $5 to $10 higher. Slaughter goats were $3 to $5 higher. Demand was very good. The supply included around 45% sheep including nearly 450 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified. Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 70.00 to 140.00 per head, ewes lambs 76.00 to 100.00 per head. Dorper bucks, 110.00 to 250.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 55.00 to 67.00 per head. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 360.00 per head. Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 90 to 110 lbs., 80.00 to 92.50. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 50 to 80 lbs., 95.00 to 114.00. Good, 50 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 95.00. Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 100.00 to 111.00. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 95.00 to 100.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 89.00 to 95.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 33.00 to 50.00, few light weights to 55.00. Angoras, 65 to 80 lbs., 41.00 to 50.50. Billies, 90 to 220 lbs., 70.00 to 80.00, few light weights to 85.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 90 to 110 lbs., 100.00 to 103.00.
