Georgia livestock auction summary
The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Aug. 31, showed receipts of 14,367 head, compared to 12,874 head last week and 12,065 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga. Compared to last week, slaughter cows were $1 to $2 lower. Feeder steers were steady to $1 lower, and heifers were steady to $2 higher. Steer calves were steady to $2 higher and heifer calves were steady to $1 higher. Replacement cows were $1 to $3 lower. The offering included 9% steers over 600 pounds, 37% steers under 600 pounds, 6% heifers over 600 pounds, 27% heifers under 600 pounds, 8% feeder cows, 11% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
