Faith livestock sales report
The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 506 head Aug. 27, compared to 1,600 head last week and 626 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder steer trends were not applicable due to no comparable sales. Feeder heifers sold $1 to $4 lower in a very limited test. Feeder cows were not well tested. Slaughter cows and slaughter bulls sold mostly steady. Feeder offerings consisted of mostly smaller packages of open heifers. Feeder receipts included 36% steers and 64% heifers, with 100% weighed over 600 pounds. Receipts included about 61% feeder cattle; 14% slaughter cows and bulls with balance replacement cows and other miscellaneous cattle. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 12 head, 942 lbs., 112.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 55 head, 827 lbs., 116.25; 913 to 943 lbs., 108.00 to 109.00 (108.71). Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 827 to 833 lbs., 110.25 to 110.50 (110.37); 856 to 895 lbs., 103.25 to 109.00 (106.74); 902 to 936 lbs., 103.50 to 104.75 (104.56). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 33 head, 984 lbs., 104.75. Large frame 1, 7 head, 1007 lbs., 102.25. Replacement females: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 4 years old, feeder cows, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young 1230 lbs., 59.00; middle aged, 1300 lbs., 53.00. Large frame 1, 1480 lbs 50.75. Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 985 to 1385 lbs., 51.00 to 53.00; low dressing, 48.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 47.00 to 49.00; low dressing, 41.50 to 44.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1500 to 2605 lbs., 63.00 to 67.00; low dressing, 60.25 to 62.50. Date: 9/4/07
