Ericson cattle sales report
The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 1,600 head Aug. 25, compared to 1,500 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb. There were no recent feeder cattle sales from which to establish a trend, however, a fairly steady undertone was noted. Cattle quality was average to good, with receipts consisting of both yearlings and fall calves. Good demand was noted, especially on value added/drug-free cattle. The offerings consisted of 71% steers and 29% heifers, with 98% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 11 head, 541 lbs., 134.00; 15 head, 680 lbs., 122.50 calves; 731 to 745 lbs., 117.00 to 123.35 (122.41); 706 to 718 lbs., 118.00 to 122.00 (120.41) calves; 761 to 799 lbs., 115.00 to 121.25 (119.79); 824 to 848 lbs., 115.50 to 117.00 (116.80); 839 to 844 lbs., 118.50 to 122.25 (121.12) value added; 851 to 896 lbs., 113.00 to 119.25 (118.11); 911 to 937 lbs., 110.00 to 115.75 (114.55). Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 486 lbs., 130.00; 13 head, 567 lbs., 123.00; 7 head, 622 lbs., 117.00; 23 head, 675 lbs., 118.00; 673 to 677 lbs., 118.00 calves; 7 head, 700 lbs., 116.50; 19 head, 733 lbs., 117.25 calves; 756 to 785 lbs., 114.50 to 118.75 (117.65); 19 head, 757 lbs., 116.00 calves; 816 to 846 lbs., 108.50 to 112.25 (110.25); 862 to 890 lbs., 107.00 to 111.75 (108.80); 902 to 937 lbs., 107.00 to 110.50 (108.30); 6 head, 981 lbs., 105.50.
