Amarillo livestock salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 1,056 head Sept. 4, compared to 1,281 head last week and 1,101 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were firm to $2 higher on a limited test. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were not enough to test. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate. Feeder cattle accounted for approximately 91% of the run with cows and bulls accounting for 9% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 71%, heifers 29%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds 47%.
