Ada livestock sale notes

The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Okla., reported receipts of 1,931 head Aug. 30, compared to 1,700 head last week, and 2,600 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and steer calves were steady to $2 higher, heifers were steady. Demand was good on all classes. Weigh-ups were average to gaunt. The supply included 49% heifers and 34% over 600 pounds. A total of 327 offered with 40% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 3 head, 350 lbs., 145.00; 4 head, 401 lbs., 130.00; 9 head, 493 to 499 lbs., 127.00 to 128.00 (127.33); 6 head, 520 to 539 lbs., 122.00 to 129.00 (124.28); 20 head, 550 to 596 lbs., 121.50 to 126.50 (124.97); 20 head, 650 to 678 lbs., 115.00 to 120.00 (116.15); 706 to 741 lbs., 113.00 to 115.50 (114.01); 13 head, 750 to 754 lbs., 112.75 to 115.50 (113.38). Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 15 head, 1400 to 1850 lbs., 66.00 to 69.00; high dressing, 70.00 to 71.00; low dressing, 62.00 to 65.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 4 years old, 900 to 1125 lbs., 2 to 3 months bred, high quality, 765.00 to 820.00, average quality, 660.00 to 710.00; 3 to 8 years old, 1000 to 1300 lbs 3 to 6 months bred, high quality, 820.00 to 900.00, average quality, 710.00 to 770.00; 6 to 7 years old, 900 to 1280 lbs 6 to 7 months bred, high quality, 820.00 to 900.00, average quality, 710.00 to 770.00.
