Aberdeen cattle sales
The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, S.D., reported receipts of 2,127 head Aug. 29, compared to 3,730 head last week and 1,314 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared with last week, feeder steers and heifers sold mostly steady to $2 higher. Demand continued to be good. Steers comprised 56% of the run, heifers 44%, with 96% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 12 head, 509 lbs., 128.00; 5 head, 636 lbs., 124.50; 21 head, 673 lbs., 120.00; 715 to 725 lbs., 119.50 to 124.50 (124.24); 18 head, 758 to 795 lbs., 114.00 to 120.50 (115.33); 854 to 891 lbs., 113.00 to 115.50 (114.39); 903 to 929 lbs., 111.75 to 114.25 (112.68); 9 head, 959 to 961 lbs., 105.00 to 105.50 (105.22); 300 head, 959 lbs., 113.60 fancy; 1064 to 1068 lbs., 103.00 to 103.20 (103.18). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 288 lbs., 360.00 per head; 12 head, 581 lbs., 127.50; 7 head, 744 lbs., 114.75. Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 15 head, 542 lbs., 89.50; 7 head, 923 lbs., 75.00.
