Tulia livestock sales reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,049 head Oct. 1, compared to 2,400 head last week and 4,153 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady, heifers at 600 to 700 pounds were $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 lower. Trade was active and demand good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 92% and slaughter cows and bulls 8% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 67% of the run, heifers 33%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 84%. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 389 lbs., 128.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 128.00 to 132.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 121.00; package 646 lbs., 112.00, package 689 lbs., fleshy 108.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 115.50 to 117.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 360 lbs., 125.00 to 132.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 116.50 to 117.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 112.00 to 114.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 113.85 to 120.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 110.00 to 115.85, part load 706 lbs., fleshy 105.00; load 842 lbs., 103.50; 900 to 940 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 343 lbs., 123.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 108.00 to 112.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 107.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 104.00 to 108.25; package 850 lbs., 98.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 103.50 to 109.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 108.50; load 792 lbs., 100.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 98.00 to 105.00; load 948 lbs., 93.00. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 43.00 to 47.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 42.00 to 50.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 39.00 to 45.00.
