Joplin regional cattle salesThe Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 5,124 head Oct. 1, compared to 6,050 head last week and 5,992 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steer calves were $1 to $2 lower, heifer calves were $2 to $3 lower, yearlings were steady to $2 lower. Demand and supply were moderate. A few of the calf offering were weaned with one or more shots, but most were right off the cows. Fed cattle traded $95 to $96.50 last week, but cattle futures trading on the down side added pressure to feeder cattle trade. The feeder supply included 49% steers, 38% heifers, 12% bulls, with 33% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 136.00 to 144.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 120.00 to 139.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 113.00 to 122.00; 600 to 700 calves 109.00 to 114.50, 650 to 700 lbs., yearlings 117.00 to 120.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 110.00 to 117.35; lot 811 lbs., 111.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 121.00 to 139.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 137.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.00 to 118.00, thin 112.50 to 122.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 111.00 to 118.00, lot thin 123.50, calves 103.00 to 107.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.50 to 113.00; 800 to 830 lbs., 107.00 to 112.25; load 905 lbs., 106.25. Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, lot 224 lbs., thin 80.00; package 319 lbs., 91.00; package 532 lbs., 86.00; lot 661 lbs., 83.00; lot 757 lbs., 83.00. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 116.00 to 119.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 112.50; 600 to 630 lbs., 110.00; lot 703 lbs., 105.00.
