Iowan wins $10,000 in 27th National Beef Cook-OffIowa With her recipe for Smoky Cilantro Pesto Beef Crostini, amateur home cook Lisa Huff of Clive, Iowa won one of four category divisions at the 2007 National Beef Cook-Off held in Chicago on Sept. 13. Huff was one of 26 finalists from across the U.S. who entered 20 recipes and competed for $110,000 in prize money. Grand prize winner was Christine Riccitelli of Incline Village, Nev., who won $50,000 with her recipe for Nuevo Chipotle Beef in Butternut Squash Boats. Huff's recipe using beef flat iron steak, won the Small Plates, Big Taste category which included grilled beef recipes that can be served as appetizers or as part of a varied shared meal for everyday entertaining. The Beef Cook-Off finalists' recipes showcased Americans' love of beef in ways that provide essential nutrients in healthful meals and great taste for families. Other categories, each offering a $10,000 winning prize, included New Dynamic Beef, Nuevo Latino Beef and Kids in the Kitchen. To view this year's winning recipes, log on to www.beefcookoff.org.
