Ericson cattle sales report

The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 1,650 head Sept. 29, compared to 1,925 head last week and 2,200 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

This was the first appreciable run of spring calves this season, therefore no trend was given. A fairly wide price spread was noted on 450- to 550-weight calves, based on preconditioning status and lot size. A fairly steady market was noted on a light run of yearling cattle. Receipts consisted of 59% steers and 41% heifers, 22% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 443 lbs., 140.00 to 144.00 (142.20); 450 to 477 lbs., 129.50 to 135.00 (133.41); 506 to 545 lbs., 123.50 to 137.00 (127.47); 556 to 577 lbs., 121.50 to 129.50 (125.93); 14 head, 634 lbs., 118.75; 11 head, 802 lbs., 114.60; 11 head, 927 lbs., 111.00; 8 head, 951 lbs., 109.85. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 10 head, 468 to 495 lbs., 117.00 to 130.00 (123.32); 6 head, 528 lbs., 121.00; 14 head, 723 lbs., 105.00; 10 head, 931 lbs., 103.25.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 349 lbs., 139.00; 6 head, 368 lbs., 129.00; 404 to 442 lbs., 120.00 to 128.00 (124.20); 471 to 493 lbs., 122.00 to 137.00 (126.61); 502 to 538 lbs., 113.00 to 118.75 (114.98); 5 head, 571 lbs., 113.00; 727 to 742 lbs., 115.00 to 115.75 (115.32); 800 to 848 lbs., 109.75 to 112.50 (112.08); 906 to 933 lbs., 111.00; 9 head, 997 lbs., 105.50.
