2007 Colorado State Fair Jr. Livestock Sale breaks records

Each year the preeminent event for Colorado's 4-H and FFA youth takes place at the Colorado State Fair. The Jr. Livestock Sale is one of the largest events of if its kind in Colorado.

The 2007 Colorado State Fair Jr. Livestock Sale presented by Touchstone Energy Cooperatives drew in $412,950 for Colorado's 4-H and FFA youth. The event is possible only through the generosity of buyer groups and sponsors.

"The Colorado State Fair would like to thank the generous buying groups who support Colorado's youth in agriculture. We were able to far exceed last year's total. In fact we surpassed the former high total by more than $75,000," stated General Manager Chris Wiseman. "The young people who participate in this event need to be recognized for their hard work and dedication, and the Jr. Livestock Sale provides that recognition"

"I am so proud of all of these kids who worked so hard, and I would like to thank our generous buyer groups and sponsors," stated Jeanne Robison, Colorado State Fair Livestock Coordinator.

Lisa Reid of Brighton took Grand Champion Market Beef. Denver Rustlers purchased the Grand Champion for a total of $50,000. Reserve Grand Champion shown by Tanner Anderson of Eaton went for $13,000 to Sam Brown and Family.

Grand Champion Market Hog shown by Trey Morris of Meeker was purchased by Pigskin Buckaroos for $30,000. Reserve Grand Champion was shown by Mitchell Peterson of Sanford and purchased by Pigskin Buckaroos.

Kelly Knight of Longmont took Grand Champion Market Lamb purchased by Sam Brown and Family for $18,000. Pigskin Buckaroos purchased the Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb shown by Jacob Barker of Pueblo.

Grand Champion Market Goat shown by Shelby Teague of Ft. Morgan was purchased by Denver Rustlers for $3,800. Ryan Throckmorton of LaSalle presented the Reserve Grand Champion Market Goat purchased by TIC of Centennial for $1,900.
