Tulia livestock auction newsThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 3,156 head Oct. 22, compared to 2,582 head last week and 3,084 head last year, according to the Texas-Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady with some firmness evident on yearlings and 500- to 600-pound steer calves. Heifer calves started the sale out weak but finished the sale steady. Slaughter cows were weak to $2 lower and bulls were not well tested. The bulk of the receipts were unweaned calves. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 97% and slaughter cows and bulls 3% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 52% of the run, heifers 48%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 51%. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 292 lbs., 131.00; package 361 lbs., 109.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 107.00 to 118.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 116.00; 600 to 700 lbs., calves 102.50 to 107.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 109.00 to 109.50, calves 98.50 to 103.85. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 112.00 to 122.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 104.00 to 112.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 91.00 to 105.00, package thin 521 lbs., 109.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00, calves 93.00 to 104.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 101.00 to 101.50, calves 94.50 to 95.00; package 930 lbs., 86.00.
