Springfield livestock salesThe Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,528 head Oct. 17, compared to 2,157 head last week and 2,102 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers were steady to $2 lower, Holsteins were steady to $3 higher, heifers were $1 to $3 lower. Demand and supply was moderate. A special value added sale was held in conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. Buyers on the cautious side with the lower quality and conditioned cattle being discounted heavily. The supply included 34% steers, 9% Holsteins, 38% heifers, 19% bulls, with 36% over 600 pounds.
