High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Oct. 21, totaled 243,077 head, compared to 199,754 head last week and 194,365 head last year, according to the USDA-Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo. The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots. Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 7,529 head, 1,300 to 1,525 lbs., 88.00 to 93.00 (90.76); 65 to 80% Choice, 10,657 head, 1,250 to 1,500 lbs., 89.00 to 94.50 (92.08); 35 to 65% Choice, 40,205 head, 1,105 to 1,475 lbs., 90.00 to 94.50 (93.63); 0 to 35% Choice, 3,098 head, 1,225 to 1,375 lbs., 91.50 to 94.00 (93.74).
