Governor's agriculture advisory board to meet Oct. 31

Kansas

The Governor's Agricultural Advisory Board will meet from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Oct. 31, at the National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame, 630 Hall of Fame Drive, Bonner Springs.

The agenda for the meeting includes:

--A report from Secretary of Agriculture Adrian Polansky on new and continuing initiatives;

--Updates from the food safety, plant protection, and weights and measures programs;

--A presentation on intensive groundwater use control areas;

--Reports on the specialty crop block grant, catfish feed assistance program and state fair events;

--Reports on the agricultural census, wheat yield and quality, and fall crops;

--Report from Corey Mohn, agriculture marketing and community development, Kansas Department of Commerce;

--Report on agriculture security issues and emergency preparedness.

The meeting will include time for public comment.

Individuals who would like a meeting agenda, or would like to attend the meeting personally, should notify Ginger Patterson at 785-296-3902. Individuals who plan to attend the meeting and who require special accommodation should notify the Kansas Department of Agriculture at least three days prior to the meeting.
