Goldthwaite sheep sales
The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Oct. 19, reported sales of 1,382 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,501 head last week and 2,135 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Slaughter lambs were steady. Stocker and feeder goats were $3 to $5 higher on a light test. Slaughter goats were $5 to $7 higher. Demand was good. The supply included around 30% sheep including nearly 200 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified. Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 75 to 120 lbs., 55.00 to 61.00. Dorper bucks, 125.00 to 155.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 65 to 85 lbs., 38.00 to 68.00; pairs, few 25.00 to 30.00 per head. Barbados bucks, 120.00 to 200.00 per head. Slaughter lambs: Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00. Barbados, lambs, 15 to 40 lbs., 89.00 to 100.00; 50 to 70 lbs., 70.00 to 80.00. Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 60 lbs., 102.00 to 113.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 100.00 to 115.00, few to 117.00. Selection 2, 45 to 60 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 95.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 75 to 130 lbs., 35.00 to 49.00. Billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 70.00 to 79.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 85 to 120 lbs., 92.00 to 115.00. Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 65 lb fancy 110.00 to 137.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 70.00 to 90.00, few fancy 90.00 to 120.00 per head. Selection 2, 80 to 130 lbs., 50.00 to 70.00. Pairs, 30.00 to 33.00 per head. Billies, Selection 1, 120 to 200 lbs., 80.00 to 89.00, individual 300.00 per head.
