Faith livestock sales reportThe Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 5,212 head Oct. 22, compared to 5,469 head last week and 4,789 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, steer calves under 500 pounds were steady to $3 lower, over 500 pounds sold $2 to $5 lower with the full decline on 5 weights. Heifer calves below 500 pounds were steady to $1 lower, above 500 pounds were $3 to $5 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were lightly tested with a steady undertone noted. Feeder cows sold steady. Buyer demand was moderate to good despite the muddy conditions in feedlots across the country. The sale consisted of primarily large consignments of fancy reputation calves. Several replacement heifers throughout the offering were in very good demand. The offering included 63% feeder steers, 37% heifers, with 18% of the feeder supply over 600 pounds. The total supply was made up of 94% feeders, 6% cows and bulls. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 head, 392 lbs., 132.00; 28 head, 494 lbs., 121.50; 524 to 542 lbs., 110.50 to 117.75 (114.42); 562 to 586 lbs., 113.50 to 114.50 (114.12); 20 head, 605 to 646 lbs., 109.00 to 114.50 (112.81) calves;.
