City of Wichita, K-State to offer free workshop to show how to
Kansas Kansas State University's Kansas Small Business Environmental Assistance Program, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment and the city of Wichita are sponsoring the Diesel Technologies and Equipment Expo, a free workshop from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., Nov. 2, at the Sedgwick County Extension and Education Center, 7001 W. 21st North, Wichita. The workshop will show how reducing diesel emissions from fleets and personal trucks can save money and help regional air quality. Fleets operating across the nation may be required to reduce diesel emissions in the next few years, according to Nancy Larson, director of K-State's Pollution Prevention Institute, which houses the Kansas Small Business Environmental Assistance Program. Larson said the workshop will provide an overview on activities nationwide related to idle reduction and clean diesel retro-fits. Industry professionals will discuss how they are saving money on fuel costs and reducing emissions while enhancing health and safety benefits. Funding for the workshop has been provided by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment's Bureau of Air and Radiation. The Diesel Technology Forum is providing a complimentary lunch to those who register for the workshop by Oct. 25. A free "no-spill" gas can also will be given to the first 50 registrants.
