Apache cattle sales report

Stockman's Livestock Inc., Apache, Okla., reported receipts of 3,284 head Oct. 20, compared to 2,919 head last week and 3,364 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, stocker calves were $3 to $5 lower. Feeder cattle were steady. There was a good attendance of buyers and trade was active on better offerings, moderate on balance. Cattle were in thin to medium flesh and there were a few attractive cattle in trade. Receipts included 53% steers, 34% heifers with 52% feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady with last week's sale. A total of 405 cows and bulls sold with 49% to packers. There was good interest in bred cows and pairs.

Lean, 50 head, 85 to 90% lean, 975 to 1450 lbs., 43.00 to 46.50; high dressing, 47.00 to 47.50; low dressing, 39.00 to 42.50. Light, 51 head, 85 to 92% lean, 725 to 1025 lbs., 39.00 to 42.50; high dressing, 43.00 to 45.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 38.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 33 head, 1275 to 2110 lbs., 57.00 to 60.50; high dressing, 63.50; low dressing, 53.00 to 56.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 4 to 7 years old, 1150 to 1275 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality, 825.00 to 910.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, 6 to 8 years old, 900 to 1056 lbs., with 150- to 300-lb. calves, average quality, 910.00 to 1010.00.
