Amarillo livestock sales

The Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,401 head Oct. 23, compared to 1,857 head last week and 2,133 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Steer and heifer calves were steady, except 300- to 400-pound steers were $3 to $4 higher. Slaughter cows were $2 lower. Slaughter bulls were not enough to test. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate. Feeder cattle accounted for approximately 82% of the run with cows and bulls accounting for 18% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 72%, heifers 28%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds 64%.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 135.00 to 145.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 119.00 to 129.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 114.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 108.00, calves 95.00 to 103.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 106.00 to 106.50, fleshy 95.00 to 98.00, calves 100.00 to 101.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 200 to 300 lbs., 122.50 to 130.00; package 330 lbs., 115.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 121.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 102.00 to 105.00; string 671 lbs., Mexican Origin 109.25, string 671 lbs., Mexican Origin full 103.00, package 651 lb. calves 96.00; string 776 lbs., Mexican Origin 101.25.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 485 to 500 lbs., 97.00 to 100.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 98.00 to 105.00; package 648 lb. calves 89.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 350 lbs., 105.00 to 112.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 101.00 to 109.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 98.00 to 103.00; 600 to 700 lb. calves 94.00 to 96.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350 to 400 lbs., 105.00 to 109.00; package 432 lbs., 104.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 95.00 to 98.00; package 651 lb. calves 91.00; package 657 lbs., fleshy 89.00; package 755 lbs., fleshy 95.00; package 871 lbs., 86.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 97.00 to 101.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, lot 276 lbs., 104.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 95.00 to 100.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 45.50 to 50.50; low dressing, 39.50 to 42.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 42.50 to 45.00; low dressing, 37.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 37.00 to 41.50; high dressing, 45.00.

Slaughter bulls: Low dressing, 1400 lbs., 50.00, individual.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 to 1150 lbs., 3 to 4 months bred, 660.00 to 790.00 per head; middle-aged 1000 to 1450 lbs., 2 to 6 months bred, 610.00 to 860.00 per head; aged, 900 to 1400 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 530.00 to 600.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 1150 lbs., with 150-lb calf, 750.00 per pair.
