Wheat, barley committee boosts support for Young Ag Leadership

Montana

The Young Ag Leadership Conference is proud to announce the Montana Wheat and Barley Committee's increase of support; as they pledge $10,000 for the 2007 Young Ag Leadership Conference which will be held in Great Falls, Montana, Oct. 12 to 14. This one of a kind event brings together young agriculturists from around the state to discuss the issues that are affecting their business, industry and lifestyle.

"We are very lucky to have such a great supporter like the Montana Wheat & Barley Committee," said Jim Willis, co-chair of the Young Ag Leadership Conference planning committee. "Because of sponsorships like theirs we are able to provide this conference to young agriculturist for a minimal registration fee of $25."

Cheryl Tuck of the Montana Wheat and Barley Committee stated, "The Montana Wheat and Barley Committee directors have historically supported any programs that help get current, applicable information into the hands of young producers so they can not only put this information into practice on their own operations, but share this information with others. Strong agriculture makes for a stronger state economy."

The Young Ag Leadership Conference is an annual conference designed for young agriculturist between the ages of 18 and 40. Hosted by seven of Montana's most influential agricultural organizations, this conference offers workshops on marketing and finance issues, emerging technologies, personal leadership development, family communications and issues management. In addition, there are many dynamic keynote speakers and networking opportunities. For more information about the conference visit www.mfbf.org or call 406-587-3153.

The Montana Wheat and Barley Committee is the producer-funded and directed check-off organization for wheat and barley growers in the state. Wheat and barley are the principal grain crops produced in Montana and are agricultural resources of the first magnitude in the economy of the state. These commodities enter a domestic and world market that is highly competitive. Therefore, it is the mission of the Montana Wheat and Barley Committee to protect and foster the health, prosperity, and general welfare of this industry by encouraging and promoting intensive, scientific, and practical research into all phases of the wheat and barley culture and production, marketing, and end-use and, further, to aid in the development of markets for wheat and barley grown in Montana.
