Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 3,524 head Oct. 15, compared to 2,878 head last week and 2,503 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and steer calves were steady. Feeder heifers were steady to $2 lower, heifer calves were $2 to $4 lower. Weigh-ups were average to full, flesh condition thin to average with few fleshy calves. Weaker undertones on plainer cattle, however good demand on better quality cattle. Receipts included 38% steers, 45% heifers, 17% bulls, with 20% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 476 cows and bulls sold with 50% going to packers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 15 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1650 lbs., 47.50 to 49.00; low dressing, 43.50 to 47.00. Boners, 47 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 47.00 to 51.00; high dressing, 51.50 to 53.50; low dressing, 43.00 to 46.50. Lean, 72 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 47.00 to 50.50; low dressing, 51.00 to 54.50; low dressing, 43.00 to 46.50. Light, 42 head, 85 to 90% lean, 725 to 1000 lbs., 38.00 to 42.00; high dressing, 43.00 to 47.50; low dressing, 33.50 to 37.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 46 head, 1200 to 2225 lbs., 58.50 to 62.00; high dressing, 63.00 to 65.00; low dressing, 53.50 to 57.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 5 months bred, average quality, 700.00 to 875.00.
