Tulia livestock auction report
The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,582 head Oct. 15, compared to 2,226 head last week and 1,949 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady except heifer calves at 500 to 700 pounds were $2 to $4 lower. Trade was moderate and demand was good for yearlings and light to moderate for calves. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 95% and slaughter cows and bulls 5% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 58% of the run, heifers 42%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 75%.
