Springfield livestock sales
The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,157 head Oct. 10, compared to 2,379 head last week and 2,600 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo. Compared to last week, steers and heifers were steady to $3 higher, Holsteins were steady to $2 higher. Trade making up some ground after last week's sharply lower trend. Demand was moderate to good, supply moderate. The feeder supply included 28% steers, 13% Holsteins, 35% heifers, 24% bulls, with 31% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 297 lbs., 137.00; 300 to 350 lbs., 131.00 to 138.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 125.00 to 137.00, 450 to 500 lbs., 118.00 to 128.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 111.50 to 123.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 114.50 to 120.00, calves 111.00 to 113.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 112.00.
