Moisture well below average for this time of yearColorado Most of Colorado had little or no precipitation during the week ending Oct. 14, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, Colorado Field Office, Oct. 15. Statewide, moisture was well below average for this time of year. Temperatures continued to be higher than normal. The warm, dry conditions allowed producers an average of 6.7 days suitable for fieldwork. Winter wheat was 96 percent seeded and 71 percent emerged by the end of last week. The crop is rated in mostly good condition. Sorghum was 88 percent mature and 31 percent harvested. The crop is in mostly good condition. Dry onions were 89 percent harvested by week's end. Sunflowers were 60 percent harvested while summer potatoes were 95 percent harvested. Fall potatoes were 79 percent harvested. Corn was 99 percent mature and 37 percent harvested and rated in mostly good condition. Sugar beets were 31 percent harvested and in mostly good condition. Dry beans were 98 percent cut and 80 percent harvested by the end of the week. Fourth cutting was 47 percent complete by the end of the week. The crop is in mostly good to fair condition. Pasture and range conditions remained about the same as the previous week and continue to be rated in mostly good to fair. Livestock death loss for cattle was reported at average while sheep were slightly below average last week. Livestock are rated in mostly good condition. Stored feed supplies are above average for this time of year. Date: 10/17/07
