Goldthwaite sheep sales

The Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, Oct. 12, reported receipts of 1,501 head of sheep and goats, compared to 1,727 head last week and 2,291 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder lambs were not tested. Light slaughter lambs were $5 to $10 lower, heavy weights steady on a light test. Stocker and feeder goats were $3 to $5 lower. Slaughter goats were $3 to $5 lower. Demand was good. The supply included around 40% sheep including nearly 400 lambs. Prices per CWT unless specified.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 140 lbs., 55.00 to 70.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 200.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice, 100 to 150 lbs., 70.00 to 84.00. Prime, 100 lbs., 90.00. Good and Choice 1 to 3, 40 to 80 lbs., 95.00 to 107.00.

Slaughter ewes: Utility 1 to 3, Medium flesh, 100 to 150 lbs., 30.00 to 35.00. Barbados, lambs, 45 to 70 lbs., 89.00 to 90.00; ewes, few 71 lbs., 35.00; bucks, 100 to 150 lbs., 49.00 to 54.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 45 to 60 lbs., 95.00 to 105.00, few to 108.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 95.00 to 106.00. Selection 2, 60 to 80 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 140 lbs., 35.00 to 45.00. Billies, 100 to 200 lbs., 60.00 to 75.00, few 90 to 100 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00. Muttons, Selection 1, 85 to 120 lbs., 93.00 to 100.00.

Replacement goats: Kids, Selection 1, 60 to 85 lb. fancy 95.00 to 138.00. Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 120 lbs., 60.00 to 80.00. Selection 2, 80 to 120 lbs., 50.00 to 60.00. Billies, Selection 1, 130 to 150 lbs., 100.00 to 130.00.

Stock and feeder goats: Selection 1, 25 to 40 lbs., 95.00 to 107.00.
