Farm Bureau Convention set for Nov. 9 to 11

Oklahoma

In keeping with the state's Centennial theme, more than 1,000 Oklahoma agricultural leaders are expected to join in celebrating 100 Years of Oklahoma Agriculture during the annual Oklahoma Farm Bureau Convention Nov. 9 to 11 at the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City.

"This has been a challenging year, but just like Oklahoma farmers and ranchers have always done, we've found a way to succeed," said Steve Kouplen, Oklahoma Farm Bureau president.

The Beggs rancher is finishing his eighth and final year leading the state's largest farm organization. Farm Bureau by-laws require the presidential term to be limited to eight consecutive years. Voting delegates will select a new leader during the business session Nov. 10.

Oklahoma Congressman Frank Lucas has been invited to give the keynote address opening the convention Nov. 9. Additional convention highlights include seminars on the 2007 farm bill, grain and livestock market forecasts, the announcement of the farm family of the year and distinguished service awards.

The state's young farmers and ranchers will receive their due recognition as they compete for the annual awards in achievement, excellence and discussion. OFB members attending the convention will have the opportunity to win power tools and other items useful on the farm and ranch. The items are donated by Grainger and other companies providing benefits to OFB members.

This year marks the 66th time Oklahoma Farm Bureau members have gathered for their annual convention.
