Brand board names new directorPIERRE, S.D. (AP)--The state Brand Board has chosen Larry Stearns of Pierre as its new director. Stearns has been a consultant for several agricultural processing projects. He also managed the South Dakota Value-Added Ag Subfund for the governor's office and managed a firm that markets South Dakota Certified Beef. Stearns, who has an undergraduate degree in animal science and a master's degree in agricultural economics, replaces Julie Kongslien as head of the Brand Board. The board did not explain why she was replaced. Date: 10/17/07
