Tulia livestock market reportThe Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 2,226 head Oct. 8, compared to 2,049 head last week and 3,197 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture Market News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to weak, except 600- to 700-pound steers were $1 to $3 lower. Slaughter cows and bulls were $1 to $2 higher. Trade was active and demand good. The bulk of the supply Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Feeder cattle accounted for 85% and slaughter cows and bulls 15% of the run. In the feeder supply, steers made up approximately 72% of the run, heifers 28%, steers and heifers over 600 pounds totaled 64%. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 262 lbs., 146.50; lot 363 lbs., 144.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 131.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 116.00 to 125.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.25 to 110.00; pen 741 lbs., 107.50, load 700 lbs., 116.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 105.50 to 109.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, pen 264 lbs., 129.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 114.00 to 124.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.00 to 112.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 105.50 to 107.00, loads 631 lbs., 115.85; 700 to 800 lbs., 102.50 to 107.00; 800 to 835 lbs., 103.00 to 108.00. Medium and large frame 3 to 4, lot 605 lbs., Longhorn 55.25. Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, pen 273 lbs., 124.00; pen 374 lbs., 122.25; 550 to 600 lbs., 103.75 to 105.50, load 533 lbs., 116.75; load 632 lbs., 111.00; lot 762 lbs., 103.00; lot 810 lbs., 99.00.
