Springfield livestock sales

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 2,379 head Oct. 3, compared to 2,388 head last week and 2,391 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers under 600 pounds and heifers under 550 pounds were $2 to $4 lower, heavier weights were steady to $2 lower, Holsteins under 550 pounds were steady to $2 lower, over 550 pounds were $2 to $4 lower. Demand and supply were moderate. A special wean-vac sale was held in conjunction with the regular feeder cattle sale. Cattle futures were all on the down side but corn futures were down as well due to profit-taking and harvest pressure. The feeder supply included 32% steers, 11% Holsteins, 39% heifers, 18% bulls, with 29% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 121.00 to 129.50; 540 to 600 lbs., 112.00 to 118.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 113.00 to 120.00; 700 to 770 lbs., 108.50 to 115.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 118.00 to 124.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 111.00 to 127.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 105.00 to 112.50; 600 to 700 lbs., calves 99.50 to 113.00; lot 737 lbs., 111.50; 800 to 865 lbs., 104.00 to 107.00.

Holsteins: Large frame 3, package 175 lbs., 109.00; 300 to 330 lbs., 115.00 to 118.00; 445 to 500 lbs., 82.00 to 91.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 80.00 to 88.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 80.00 to 86.50; 700 to 715 lbs., 80.50 to 83.50; 800 to 810 lbs., 77.00 to 82.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, package 245 lbs., 128.00; package 382 lbs., 116.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 107.00 to 112.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 108.00 to 114.00; 600 to 665 lbs., 105.00 to 113.00; package 738 lbs., 105.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 290 to 300 lbs., thin 113.00 to 117.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 100.00 to 111.50, thin 113.00 to 114.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 102.00 to 108.00; 740 to 800 lbs., 101.50 to 106.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 450 to 500 lbs., 113.00 to 119.00; package 578 lbs., 104.00; 625 to 635 lbs., calves 104.00 to 107.00; package 748 lbs., 96.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 370 to 400 lbs., 109.00 to 118.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 103.50 to 124.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.50 to 109.50; 600 to 640 lbs., calves 104.00 to 108.00, 675 to 700 lbs., 99.50 to 102.00.
