South Dakota cattle salesThe South Dakota Livestock Sales, Watertown, S.D., reported receipts of 400 head Oct. 10, compared to 750 head last week and 650 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Due to a light run of cattle, there were no trends available, though sales tended to be lower. Feeder steers made up 63% of the run, feeder heifers made up 37%, with 100% over 600 pounds. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 809 to 831 lbs., 108.00 to 113.00 (111.82); 19 head, 880 to 892 lbs., 107.00 to 107.50 (107.24); 11 head, 1005 lbs., 103.00; 38 head, 1238 lbs., 92.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 695 lbs., 110.50; 20 head, 727 lbs., 105.50; 770 to 797 lbs., 105.50 to 110.50 (108.08); 25 head, 960 lbs., 107.50; 16 head, 1015 to 1038 lbs., 84.00 to 89.00 (88.08) fleshy; 6 head, 1102 lbs., 87.00. Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 2, 15 head, 750 to 760 lbs., 74.00 to 84.00 (79.30); 7 head, 922 lbs., 83.00; 7 head, 1106 lbs., 65.50. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 800 to 811 lbs., 104.00; 850 to 882 lbs., 103.50 to 105.00 (104.76); 13 head, 1011 lbs., 96.75; 42 head, 1148 lbs., 89.60.
