South Central direct sheep

The South Central Direct Sheep sales report for the week ending Oct. 5, showed receipts of 2,700 feeder lambs, 500 replacement ewes, 100 slaughter meat goats and 200 replacement goats, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder lambs were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter lambs and ewes were not tested. There were no recent comparisons on replacement ewes, slaughter meat goats and replacement goats. Trading and demand fairly active.

Feeder lambs: Texas, 2700 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 70 to 80 lbs., 102.00 to 103.00; 80 to 85 lbs., 105.00; hair lambs 40 to 70 lbs., 90.00 to 109.00; 70 to 100 lbs., 85.00 to 104.00.

Replacement ewes: Texas, 500 head, Medium and large frame 1 to 2, baby tooth to solid mouth 72.00 per head; baby tooth to solid mouth hair ewes 85.00 per head.

Slaughter meat goats: Texas, 100 head, kids, Selection 1 to 2, 65 lbs., 90.00.

Replacement goats: Texas, 200 head, nannies, Selection 1 to 2, 70 lbs., 105.00.
